Slovenia’s industrial production growth eased slightly to 4.2% year-on-year in May 2026, compared with 4.4% in April.

By sector, output in electricity, gas and steam supply fell by 4.3%, reversing a 1.1% increase in the previous month. Mining and quarrying contracted further, with output down 36.3% after a 35.2% decline in April. In contrast, manufacturing strengthened, with production growth accelerating to 5.6% from 5.0%.

By main industrial groupings, output of intermediate goods slowed to 1.1% from 2.5%, reflecting a sharper 7.4% drop in energy products. Production of raw materials was unchanged at 3.0%. Investment goods output also moderated, rising 6.3% after an 8.1% increase in April.

Consumer goods production, however, gained momentum, accelerating to 8.1% from 4.9%. This was driven by a strong rise in non-durable consumer goods output, which surged 15.0% after a 5.1% increase previously. The decline in durable consumer goods output narrowed, with production down 8.3% compared with a 9.9% fall in April.

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.9% in May, picking up from a 0.3% increase in the prior month.
