Mexico’s trade surplus widened sharply to $4.09 billion in June 2026, up from $0.51 billion in the same month a year earlier and far exceeding market expectations of $2.28 billion. Exports jumped 34.4% year-on-year to $72.5 billion, supported by a 34.1% increase in non-oil shipments and a 43.4% surge in oil exports. Manufactured exports rose 35.3%, driven by strong gains in metal products (40.9%), electrical and electronic equipment (19.7%), food, beverages and tobacco (14.5%), and automotive products (7.6%). By contrast, agricultural and fisheries exports declined 2.8%.

Imports grew 28% to $68.46 billion, indicating robust domestic demand. Purchases of intermediate goods climbed 30.9%, while consumer goods imports advanced 23.5%, supported by a 66% jump in petroleum products. Imports of capital goods increased 8.8%.
