Industrial production in the United States rose by 0.2% in July 2026, slightly below market expectations of a 0.3% increase, following an upwardly revised 0.3% gain in June. Manufacturing output—which represents about 78% of total industrial production—also increased 0.2% in July after a 0.3% rise in June, matching consensus forecasts. Excluding motor vehicles and parts, manufacturing output advanced 0.4%. Mining production climbed 1.3%. In addition, mining output was up 0.2%, while utilities output grew 0.5%, with electric and natural gas utilities posting similarly sized gains. Capacity utilization ticked up to 76.3%, remaining 3.1 percentage points below its long-run average for the 1972–2025 period.
