2026.09.0100:40:01UTC+00Thailand Manufacturing Sector Remains Solid

Thailand’s S&P Global Manufacturing PMI eased to 53.8 in August 2026, down from a seven-month high of 54.2 in July, but remained solidly in expansionary territory for the sixteenth consecutive month. Manufacturing output continued to grow strongly, posting its second-fastest increase of the year, supported by firm demand and new customer acquisitions. New orders also rose at a robust pace, extending their current expansion streak to sixteen months.

In contrast, employment declined slightly, adding to capacity pressures across the sector. On the pricing side, input cost inflation was broadly unchanged, while output price inflation moderated to a five-month low. Business confidence strengthened further, reaching its highest level since January, as manufacturers pointed to improving sales pipelines, upcoming product launches, and increased optimism about future demand.
