2026.09.0104:00:00UTC+00Indonesia’s Consumer Prices Rebound in August, Ending Brief Deflation Streak

Indonesia’s inflation returned to positive territory in August 2026, reversing a brief episode of deflation in the previous month, according to the latest official data released on 1 September 2026.

On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.21% in August, following a 0.14% decline in July 2026. The July reading had marked a temporary dip into deflation, but the latest figures indicate that price pressures have resumed, at least modestly, heading into the later part of the year.

The data are based on month-over-month comparisons, with August’s “actual” change measured against July, and July’s “previous” figure measured against June. Market participants will be watching upcoming releases closely to see whether August’s rebound signals a sustained inflation trend or a one-off correction from July’s softness.
