2026.09.0105:23:08UTC+00Dutch Factory Growth Slows to 5-Month Low

The Nevi Netherlands Manufacturing PMI slipped to 53.8 in August 2026 from 54.4 in July, its lowest reading since March. Growth in both output and new orders cooled, though each remained strong by historical standards. A sharp increase in export sales—the fastest in more than four years—helped offset the slowdown in overall order-book growth.

Employment fell for the first time in four months, mainly due to voluntary departures that were not replaced, while backlogs of work rose for a fourth straight month. Supply chains and prices were still affected by disruptions stemming from the war in the Middle East, but both input cost and output price inflation eased to their lowest rates since February.

Manufacturers remained positive about the outlook for future growth; however, business confidence retreated from July’s seven-month high and dipped below its long-run average.
