2026.09.0808:00:00UTC+00Taiwan Inflation Cools in August as CPI Eases to 2.04% Year-on-Year

Taiwan’s consumer price inflation eased in August 2026, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 2.04% year-on-year, down from 2.54% in July 2026. The latest data, updated on 8 September 2026, indicate a moderation in price pressures compared with the same period a year earlier.

The year-on-year comparison framework shows that while prices are still higher than a year ago, the pace of increase is slowing. The July reading reflected the change in prices compared with July of the previous year, while the August figure captures the shift relative to August a year earlier. The deceleration from 2.54% to 2.04% suggests a gradual easing of inflationary momentum in Taiwan as the third quarter progresses.
