The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Consumer Confidence Index rose to 53.2 in August 2026, up from 51.8 in July. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase and the highest level since February. The improvement was driven by the government’s co-payment scheme, stable interest rates, and higher prices for key agricultural products, all of which helped strengthen consumers’ purchasing power.

Thanavath Phonvichai, the university’s president, said that planned reforms in the energy sector could help sustain economic growth once the consumer subsidy program ends on September 30. He added that the anticipated passage of the 2027 budget would also support the economy after September through increased public spending.
