2026.09.1408:30:00UTC+00Hong Kong Producer Price Inflation Moderates to 13.1% in Q2 2026

Hong Kong’s producer price inflation eased in the second quarter of 2026, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) rising 13.10% year-over-year, down from a 17.70% increase recorded in the first quarter of 2026. The latest figures, updated on 14 September 2026, point to a gradual cooling in upstream price pressures across the economy.

The data are based on a year-over-year comparison, measuring the change in producer prices in the second quarter of 2026 against the same period a year earlier, while the previous reading compared first-quarter prices to those of the first quarter a year before. Although producer inflation remains elevated in double digits, the deceleration suggests some relief in cost pressures for manufacturers and service providers, which could in time filter through to consumer prices and corporate margins.

Market participants and policymakers will be watching upcoming quarters closely to determine whether this moderation marks the start of a sustained disinflationary trend in Hong Kong’s production sector or merely a temporary easing after a period of particularly strong price growth.
