Denmark’s consumer confidence index slipped to -13.7 in September 2026 from -13.1 in August, though it remained above the six‑month average of -15.7. The marginal decline was driven by more negative views of households’ financial situation over the past 12 months (-8.6 vs -7.6 in August), and by a deterioration in expectations for household finances over the coming year (-3.7 vs 0.4).

By contrast, assessments of the overall economy were slightly less downbeat. Views on Denmark’s current economic conditions improved marginally (-22.5 vs -22.7), as did expectations for the national economy over the next 12 months (-19.2 vs -20.6). Consumers were also somewhat less pessimistic about making major purchases (-14.3 vs -14.9).

Among components excluded from the headline confidence indicator, perceptions of current price growth eased (28.0 vs 29.9), but inflation expectations for the next 12 months increased (31.9 vs 30.5). At the same time, concerns about unemployment intensified (19.2 vs 15.8), with households continuing to anticipate higher joblessness over the coming year.
