Japan’s Corporate Services Price Index (CSPI) rose 3.7% year-over-year, marginally above the previous reading of 3.6%, according to data updated on 27 September 2026. The index measures the change in prices that businesses charge each other for a wide range of services, and is a key gauge of underlying cost pressures in the corporate sector.

The latest figure, which compares prices in the reported month with the same month a year earlier, suggests that service-sector inflation in Japan remains firm and is continuing its gradual upward trend. The prior month’s 3.6% increase was also measured against the same month a year ago, underscoring a sustained period of elevated price growth rather than a one-off spike.

With corporate service prices creeping higher, Japanese businesses are likely to continue facing increased cost burdens, which may eventually filter through to consumer prices or profit margins, depending on their ability to pass on higher costs. The modest acceleration will be closely watched by investors and policymakers as they assess the durability of inflationary pressures in Japan’s economy.
