2026.10.0614:00:00UTC+00Canada’s Ivey PMI Eases in September, Still Signals Robust Expansion

Canada’s Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) non-seasonally adjusted ticked down in September 2026 but remained firmly in expansionary territory, signaling continued strength in business activity.

The headline index slipped to 61.9 in September from 62.7 in August 2026, according to data updated on 06 October 2026. While the reading marks a modest cooling from the previous month, it stays well above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, indicating that Canadian purchasing activity and underlying demand remain solid.

The slight decline may reflect a more measured pace of growth after a strong August, but the overall level suggests that companies are still actively placing orders and sustaining a positive outlook for the near term. Investors and analysts will now be watching upcoming data to see whether September’s easing is a one-off normalization or the start of a gradual moderation in Canada’s economic momentum.
