2026.10.0702:44:42UTC+00Soybeans Rebound on Brazil Planting Delays

Soybean futures rose toward $13.10 per bushel, rebounding from multi‑week lows as slower planting in Brazil and signs of resilient export demand supported prices. As of Thursday, 7.3% of Brazil’s soybean area—the world’s largest exporter—had been planted, down from 9% at the same time last year. Consultancy AgRural projects 2026/27 production at 182.7 million metric tons, while the USDA is more optimistic, forecasting 186 million tons, which would surpass last year’s record crop of 180.5 million tons.

On the demand front, an unnamed buyer booked 104,000 tonnes of US soybeans, and US export inspections have reached 3.99 million tonnes since the start of September, up from 3.05 million tonnes a year earlier. Still, upside in prices has been capped by expectations of a large US harvest and subdued Chinese demand. China’s soybean imports are being dampened by high domestic inventories, weak crushing margins, and a 10% additional tariff on US soybeans, while private buyers continue to favor cheaper supplies from Brazil and Argentina.
