2026.10.1206:31:01UTC+00European Stocks Set for a Higher Open

European equity markets were set to open higher on Monday, supported by weaker oil prices after President Donald Trump said Moscow had agreed to release diesel supplies to global markets and claimed that Russia and Ukraine had reached an immediate “energy ceasefire.” Sentiment remained fragile, however, as escalating tensions in the Middle East weighed on investor confidence. A deadly attack on Riyadh’s airport prompted Trump to consider joining Saudi Arabia in potential retaliatory action against Houthi militants in Yemen.

The European economic calendar is relatively light, with no major data releases scheduled, though French luxury group LVMH is due to report earnings. Investors are also looking ahead to Wednesday’s results from Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML Holding, which are expected to provide fresh insight into demand linked to artificial intelligence. In premarket trading, futures on the Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 were both up about 0.3%.
