2013.05.2401:31:27UTC+00Japan stocks bounce back after decline; Nikkei up 3.2%

Japanese stocks climbed early Friday, with the Nikkei Stock Average surging 3.2% after diminishing 7.3% in the previous session, prompted by some relief purchasing amid assumptions that the rally that began late last year may have further to go. The broader Topix moved 2.9% forward after Thursday's 6.9% tumble. A recovery in the U.S. dollar, which soared back above the ¥102 level after drifting below ¥101 on Thursday, helped to lift exporters, with financials also taking back some of their losses. Shares of Mazda Motor Corp. bounced back 7.7%, Shinsei Bank Ltd. climbed 7.4%, shipping firm Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. acquired 7.2%, mobile-service provider Softbank Corp. bolster 5.6% and Tokyu Land Corp. traded 5.8% greater in a recovery spread across sectors.
