Donald Trump’s name has become a brand long before he was elected US President. His companies, world-famous skyscrapers, and even TV-shows featured the name Trump. From now on, it will also help the Republican Party with fundraising.

The former US President has publicly granted permission to use his name and image for raising money to the party. He personally announced his decision after the meeting with Chair of the Republican National Committee Ronna McDaniel. Trump said that he did not mind his name being used as it was. On the one hand, it looks like a gesture of goodwill. On the other hand, Trump simply had no choice but to give his consent.

Under the US Constitution, the party "has every right to refer to public figures". This means that it does not need Trumps’ approval for using his name in fundraising. However, Trump is a clever man. He knows how to gain advantage from a situation like that. The legal duty now looks as an act of kindness. Not so long ago, he demanded in court that three largest organizations of the Republican Party stop using his name and likeness for raising funds.

Reportedly, Trump was enraged that his name was used by committees while fundraising for Republicans who voted for his impeachment. Nevertheless, after consulting with his lawyers, he had to change his attitude on the issue.
