China’s government would not leave a local giant company Alibaba alone. First, Jack Ma was forced to keep a low profileб and heavy fines were levied on the company. After that, Chinese authorities cancelled the Ant Group’s – Alibaba’s affiliate – $34.5 billion IPO, which was the largest IPO in history. However, the local government does not seem to stop their attacks on Alibaba. Recently, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has initiated an investigation which revealed gross misconduct of Alibaba's employees. Officials criticized what they called a “disgusting drinking culture” of the company’s employees. Commission’s experts accused the company’s workers of their unacceptable behavior during work time and revolting drinking issues. The reason for scrutinizing was a scandal in one of the company's departments. The company had to fire one of the managers in the retail department who was accused of debauchery. "In the incident, an unhealthy dynamic in a working environment, a disgusting drinking culture, a lack of transparency when reporting issues together exposed pervasive, deeply rooted unspoken rules," it said in a notice on the commission's website. The female company’s staffer alleged that her manager coerced her into drinking while at a dinner meeting. The manager said drinking was necessary for doing business. The sexual assault victim awoke the next morning naked in her hotel room. Records from the hotel surveillance video discovered that her boss had entered her room four times that night.
