Finnish Retail Sales Growth Quickens In March

Retail sales in Finland increased at a faster rate for the third successive month in March, preliminary data released by Statistics Finland showed Wednesday.

Retail sales turnover, in value terms, increased 9.4 percent on an annual basis in March, faster than the revised 9 percent growth seen February. In January and December, sales increased 7.2 percent and 3.7 percent respectively.

In the January-March period, the value of Finnish retail sales increased 8.5 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.

In volume terms, retail sales advanced 5.7 percent year-on-year in March, after growing 5.4 percent in the previous month, the agency said.
