Japan March Industrial Production +1.0% On Month

Industrial output in Japan added a seasonally adjusted 1.0 percent on month in March, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in Friday's preliminary reading.

That was well shy of forecasts for an increase of 2.3 percent following the 1.6 percent contraction in February.

On an annual basis, output climbed 13.9 percent - also missing expectations for an increase of 15.5 percent following the 1.5 percent increase in the previous month.

As a result of the data, the METI maintained its assessment of industrial production, saying: "Industrial production continued to show an upward movement."
