Japanese Gdp up 0.3 Pct in Q2, Less Than Estimates


  • Japanese GDP was growth was up 0.3 pct in Q2, mainly back on consumer demand and reconstruction work
  • However ongoing European crisis has an impact on it and growth was very modest compared with revised up 1.3 pct in Q1 and 0.6 pct expected by economists
  • In annualized term, growth was 1.4 pct less then 2.5 pct expected by economists after 4.7 pct growth in Q1
  • Private consumption also contribute +0.1 pct to the growth, less than 0.3 pct growth expected by economists
  • Capital expenditure was the real surprise with 1.5 pct growth (poll 0.8 pct) while external demand contributed -0.1 pct to the growth
